It isn’t usual to read a B-107 to its subject, but I’m going to set you straight. “Insubordinate. Insolent. A trickster. Perhaps with criminal tendencies”.

Vespa Club of Gent Ride out

Filed under: Lambretta — ben @ 8:21 pm

Rode up to Gent with Matt and Veerle on Saturday for the Vespa Club Ride out.

With the bad weather we were late and missed the start. Luckily Irish John gallantly came out to meet us and we made straight for the halfway beer stop in Melle.

What a great bloke and what a wonderful beer he introduced us to, Delirium Tremens, on tap as well!

We also met a cool guy called Peet from Leuven. By chance we’re all together in this picture :-

Despite it being a Vespa club run there were a lot of nice Lambrettas :-

More great pictures here.

Lambretta – Engine rebuild almost done

Filed under: Lambretta — ben @ 8:01 pm

Getting near the end now, it’s almost complete!

Things done in the last few weeks :-

  • New Tino Sacchi plastic chain guides are in.
  • New clutch fitted.
  • Chain case bolted down.
  • New SIL stator plate and flywheel fitted, quite good fun setting this up as I don’t have a timing disk. CamLams install guide was pretty good and I measured back from TDC to get the firing point.
  • New inlet manifold on.
  • New engine and flywheel cowling on.
  • New exhaust on.
  • New late series three engine mounts fitted (I think this is the first job that should be done when rebuilding an engine, not the last!).
  • Some pictures

Fitting the exhaust was quite difficult. I notice that the chain case stud where the tail pipe is supposed to be attached is not long enough. I think I’ll have to get a longer one.

I also got a nice Del’orto carb with jets for the Mugello/Ancillotti combination.

All I need now is a whole day off from the kids to drop the old engine and lift this one in and set it up.
