It isn’t usual to read a B-107 to its subject, but I’m going to set you straight. “Insubordinate. Insolent. A trickster. Perhaps with criminal tendencies”.

Lambretta – Torque Conversion

Filed under: Books, Lambretta — ben @ 7:39 am

Stickies Lambretta book mixes its torque measurements between foot/pounds and kilogram/meters and my Facom torque wrench is in Newton/meters.

I made this conversion chart to list all three in a range of values suitable for a Lambretta engine build. I’ve stuck it inside the front cover.

UPDATE : Awww crap! I just found a very similar chart in the Appendix of Stickies book!

Oddball Books and First Editions

Filed under: Books — ben @ 7:59 pm

Here are a couple of good ones. “Before there was ARTOO DEETO, before SEE THREEPIO there was THX 1138″, I like the way Star Wars is in a bigger typeface than THX 1138. Warner Brothers scrabbling to get something back? :-

I’ve been hunting for the three original Han Solo books for years, not looking on eBay of course as that just spoils the fun. I’ve only ever found one :-

This is an odd Terry Pratchett “Book Proof” I found in Pele Mele. It’s in the American large paperback format with none of the “other books by” pages at either end :-

My small but growing shelf of Graham Greene BODLEY HEAD first editions, although http://www.booksellerworld.com says

“He is one of the most collectable literary authors with his early books being much sought after, later titles in jacket are not considered rare, though collecting the early firsts is a matter of great patience and expense.”

Notice how the experts wrongly spell collectible!
