It isn’t usual to read a B-107 to its subject, but I’m going to set you straight. “Insubordinate. Insolent. A trickster. Perhaps with criminal tendencies”.

Isle of Man – Druidale Water Splash

Filed under: Lambretta — ben @ 10:36 am

I’ve been working on the Isle of Man quite a bit recently. I managed to persuade some colleagues to drive up from Douglas to Druidale one lunch time to visit the famous Druidale water splash. We ate our sandwiches in a freezing February wind and quickly snapped this picture :-

From www.wetroads.co.uk

‘Druidale Splash (also known as Montpelier Ford) – probably the most famous ford on the Isle of Man. Situated in the middle of moorland, the approach was tricky but fast. It was a well-known feature on numerous car and scooter rallies. Sadly turned into an irish bridge about 20 years ago and rarely wet these days.’

Here’s what it used to look like in the hey-day of scooter time trial events on the island :-

This is from www.racinglambrettas.com who have a great page on a recent visit to the Island.

  1. I’ve had a hairy moment on the bridge in an Impreza… it’s not very wide :)
