Lambretta Cutdown Rebuild – Part 1

Started rebuilding the old Li125 engine with an Imola kit from Irish John. It has a new MEC GP crank and Imola “B” piston. Something I learnt along the way is that the piston grading letters A,B,C and D signify the tolerance between the piston and the bore of the barrel.

You can see where MB Developments engraved Irish Johns name into the head when it went in for skimming.

The frame which had been powder-coated black. It’s very difficult to get off, normal paint stripper just makes it rubbery but I found some very strong paint stripper in a painting and decorating shop. I would have got it finished by now if it wasn’t for the cold weather.
