It isn’t usual to read a B-107 to its subject, but I’m going to set you straight. “Insubordinate. Insolent. A trickster. Perhaps with criminal tendencies”.

Lambretta – Engine rebuild almost done

Filed under: Lambretta — ben @ 8:01 pm

Getting near the end now, it’s almost complete!

Things done in the last few weeks :-

  • New Tino Sacchi plastic chain guides are in.
  • New clutch fitted.
  • Chain case bolted down.
  • New SIL stator plate and flywheel fitted, quite good fun setting this up as I don’t have a timing disk. CamLams install guide was pretty good and I measured back from TDC to get the firing point.
  • New inlet manifold on.
  • New engine and flywheel cowling on.
  • New exhaust on.
  • New late series three engine mounts fitted (I think this is the first job that should be done when rebuilding an engine, not the last!).
  • Some pictures

Fitting the exhaust was quite difficult. I notice that the chain case stud where the tail pipe is supposed to be attached is not long enough. I think I’ll have to get a longer one.

I also got a nice Del’orto carb with jets for the Mugello/Ancillotti combination.

All I need now is a whole day off from the kids to drop the old engine and lift this one in and set it up.

    1. This is a setup you will realy enjoy!
I have the same except for exhaust, mine is a AF? clubman.
It has a lot of torque! I will install a disc brake because it’s that fast.
I was lucky that John built mine for me. He truly is a nice bloke!

We should meet up once yours is run in and have a ride together to compare performances.
      Maybe october or so?
