Work in progress.

Its a carburettor from a 1932 Ford hotrod. Made in Softimage. I'm trying to teach myself how to use this application, there's still lots of work to do.

This is a rather bad scan of the image I am trying to re-create. Its from a book called "Ford Hot Rods" by Dain Gingerelli. I chose this picture as its quite complicated without having too many difficult shapes. Its mostly basic forms of cylinders and cubes.

Books

I like this book very much. As someone who has a great interest in computer graphics knowing that this book came from PIXAR with its roots deep in the early years of Lucasfilm and ILM is a great inspration for creating computer images.

Reviews on amazon.com said that this was the best softimage book, it's a good introduction but falls down when you get into the nitty-gritty.

Luckily I found a set of Softimage manuals for sale on the net and they are the best.
